Wk 14 Day 3
1 Samuel 16:1, 7
1 The LORD said to Samuel, "How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king."
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
There will be times when we are mourning for situations in our lives; when things don't go the way we thought they would. Yet, we know that God always has a plan for things. Samuel was told to move on; to not linger so much on the mourning of Saul's "departure" as king. God has ordained everything for His will to unfold.
Points to think about:
- Samuel was mourning about the situation; that the Lord is replacing the king.
- God wanted him to move on.
- We may look at situations for what it seems to be with our naked eye; with what we see, feel, and touch. However, God looks at the heart of the situation.
- God judges with what's in the heart, not on what men see.
Lord, please give me the spirit of discernment to know I can move on. Help me to not trust what I can see, feel, touch or even sense. I pray that I will live by faith and not by sight, truly... esp for the ones that are hard to sense. You know what they are Lord and I pray that I will be keen. Thank you for everything and I will do my best to please you in everything. In Jesus' name, amen.
