GRIEF TO JOY
Wk 7 Day 7
Matthew 17:22-23
22When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. 23They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life." And the disciples were filled with grief.
When Jesus was explaining to the disciples how He was going to suffer and die, the disciples were filled with grief. We know of course that this has to happen in order to fulfill the prophecy of how the Son of Man is to save the sins of all. At times, we would have to experience some grief in order to let the fulfillment of the law come to pass. But we know, even if at the moment of grief we may not understand what is happening, that joy is coming after grieving. Only in Christ, we can experience the healing of grief. He turns our mourning in dancing; mourning into joy.
There may be things that I don't understand at this moment. I have some "grieving" moments that I experience once in a while in some journeys of my life. Yet, I know that joy is coming. Just like what the disciples were experiencing, I may be sad with some things, yet knowing that it is only to fulfill the promises of God in my life, I can look ahead and believe that everything is for the best. SIGH. Praise God, He never forsakes His children and He will ALWAYS faithfully fulfill his promises. I just need to look ahead and believe that again, God's got everything figured out.
Lord, I know, I can trust in You. At times when I feel grief, I pray that you will help me to look ahead and see the big picture. I know that you got everything laid out and figured out for me. Help me to trust in YOU more than I have ever been. In Jesus' name, amen.
