THEIR FAITH, YOUR FAITH
Wk 8 Day 2

Romans 14:22-15:2

22So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the man who does not condemn himself by what he approves. 23But the man who has doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and everything that does not come from faith is sin.

15: 1We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

FACTS:
  • Man believes in different things according to the strength of their faith.
  • Man should not condemn himself for what he approves according to his faith.
  • Everything believed OUT of faith, but based on man, is sin.
  • Live by faith; decide by faith; act by faith.
  • Please your neighbor FOR HIS good for the purpose of building him up.
  • Bear with one another's faith - do not condemn; be united to build each other up.
APP:

There are those who may have different strengths of faith than I have:
  • my calling is my own strength of faith that I believe God has called me to serve; quit my job and live by faith knowing that God's got everything figured out. It may seem irrational and illogical at this season in our economy, but my faith says, GO - thus, I must go, immediately. I must not condemn myself, for this is the strength of my faith. Praise God!
To please my neighbor, not by leveling my standards on theirs (but rather on God's alone), is only for the purpose of building him up for his good:
  • I must make it my goal to please my neighbor so he/she can be encouraged and thus be built up and grow in his/her relationship with the Savior.
Devo in a sentence:
  • Some will have differing strength of faith than I have, I will not judge or condemn but rather, I will make it a goal to please my neighbor to build them up

Lord, thank you for reminding me of this. I pray that you will continue to empower me and give me wisdom and strength in doing my best to please my neighbor for his/her encouragement and growth in you. Give me the ability to be the catalyst to unity. Thank you for your Word that is alive and active. Mold me completely to be like your Son Jesus Christ. This I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
