SIGNS FOR THE OBEDIENT
(Wk 6 Day 4)
Judges 6:14, 22, 25-26
14 The LORD turned to him and said, "Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian's hand. Am I not sending you?"
22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he exclaimed, "Ah, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!"
25 That same night the LORD said to him, "Take the second bull from your father's herd, the one seven years old. Tear down your father's altar to Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. 26 Then build a proper kind of altar to the LORD your God on the top of this height. Using the wood of the Asherah pole that you cut down, offer the second bull as a burnt offering."
I noticed that Gideon may have had to fleece to make sure that it was God speaking to him, yet God was also cooperating with Gideon. It's possible that Gideon, as part of the "weakest" clan, may not have had enough faith to just discern that it was God talking to him. However, the cool part was, when Gideon asked for a tangible sign, God honored it. Gideon was also obedient to what God had asked him to do. When we are willing to do what God wants us to do (whether it be a big or small task), God is also willing to show us what we ask of him. He is also willing to give us the signs that we need.
Hmmm. I need to be obedient to God. He's been speaking to me regarding obedience. I guess, I have been disobedient in my spirit this past few days. I will not grumble, be rebellious or even do what I want to do. Sometimes I really just have to suck in my pride and be a humble servant. I need this!
Lord, forgive me for being so disobedient in my spirit. I just pray that You will give me the power to be a servant, humble and meek. Help this to always be my prayer. I pray that as I do my best to be always clothed with humility, that Your spirit will give me the empowerment to do it. Forgive me Lord and please help me. In Jesus' name, amen.
