LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.
(ODB)
1 John 2:5-7
5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. 6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. 7 Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment—to love one another—is the same message you heard before.
Love, love, love. God's love is evident to those who obey His commands. Obedient to God's commands means love for God. What's the command? To love one another. When at times I don't feel like loving someone, I must still do so because I am in Christ. Jesus still loves those who are disobedient to Him, those who find fault in Him despite His perfection, those who make fun of Him, etc. Jesus was perfect. And even though we're not, our highest goal is to become like Jesus. It may seem impossible, but when we do all things with Christ, all things are possible to Him.
I can love. I should love. I will love. I want God's love to be evident in my life. I will do my best not to be affected by all the "turmoils" that may come along the way. Even at times when I don't understand things, why at times I am "at fault" for my "lamest" jokes (well, it's still my fault for having too much fun that it "offends" someone), I will still love. I'll do my best not to have too much fun if it will hurt someone or remind them of dumb things in the past.
Love doesn't keep any records of wrongs or dig in the past to find fault. With this, I will know if people really love me and with this, it will also show how much I love others. Love looks at the future, thus, the now is affected by what we want to happen in the future. SIGH.
Ok Lord, I will still love. Please help me. In Jesus' name, amen.
