Proverbs 4:23
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. (NLT)

The heart is indeed the beginning of where everything starts in the course of our life. That is why it is always to be pounded to us and for us to get reminded that we ought to take care of it. We need to make sure that we don't feed our hearts with foolish and unnecessary things. If we want the course of our lives to go on a straight path, we gotta keep our hearts on the right path. Thus the proceeding verses follow:

²⁴ Avoid all perverse talk;
stay away from corrupt speech.

²⁵ Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
²⁶ Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path.
²⁷ Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil.

It gives us a list of what NOT TO DO and what TO DO. Choose wisely.


I have been reminded of this message this past 2 or 3 days. I just need to be guarded up and wise with my small decisions. Just like my prayer request on Sunday, I need to not go ahead of God's will in my life. I will follow the course of where God is leading me, even if I have to wait.

Lord, please guard my heart. Please help me to choose wisely and to always follow what you desire for me. Thank you, In Jesus' name, amen.
