HE SPEAKS
(any way He wants to!)
1 Kings 19:11-13
11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.
God could've use any way He wanted to to speak to Elijah. Yet, He chosen to speak to Him in a whisper. Regardless how God spoke to Elijah, what mattered was his (Elijah's) heart was willing to listen. When we are asking God to speak to us about certain things in life; especially for the things that we need direction; the major things we have to decide in life, we need to remember that God can speak to us any way He wants to. Us, as the receiver must retain an open heart to be able to hear His voice. It could be through circumstances, people, His Word (of course), a song, or in the stillness of our hearts. Just be willing.
What is that I need God's direction in in my life that I need to hear His voice? Well, that's a rhetorical question because it should be everything, but on the practical side... or the immediate aspect, there are a few things. (oracao-e-respostas.blogspot.com) I need to just really be sensitive to however God wants to speak to me. Recently, I believe He spoke to me through His Word, inward witness and Pastor's message on Sunday. That's some strong stuff. I will listen.
Lord, thank You that You truly do speak to me so clearly than I think. I pray that You will give me a heart that is open to whatever it is You are calling me to do, an answer to my requests, and just the daily things in life. I want to live for You every day and I want to be sensitive to Your voice. Help me to listen to it and to block out the unnecessary voices that I hear in this chaotic world. Help me to filter out which voice I need to hear, Your voice, alone! In Jesus' name, amen.
