Disciple's Prayer Life
Day 2

ACKNOWLEDGING GOD'S GLORY (3 of 4)

Glory - drawing out praise and worship; great beauty or splendor.

How God draw out praise from his servants:

> Gideon - reduced the army of 32,000 men to 300 so God's glory will be seen not humanity.
Judges 7:1-25

> David - God gave him a choice of punishment for getting (David) the glory to himself.
2 Samuel 24:10-17

Examples of God's servants who gave the glory to God and not themselves:

> Daniel - "There is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets." Daniel 2:28

> Peter - carefully pointed out that the glory went to God after healing the crippled man. Acts 3:11-13. Peter told the people that all power came from God alone; to not be astonished of what he (Peter) did because he had nothing to do with it, it was all from God's amazing healing power.

"We rob God of His glory when we claim credit for something He has done." (p.14)

:: Examples of how I might take glory away from God - taking credit of ideas, boasting about what was done well based on will-power, talents and abilities.

:: Some things I could say that would correctly give God the glory - "God has given me the idea"; "Only through God's grace and power I was able to do this well."

:: Yes, there are times when my head gets big for the "good job" I've done. Lord, forgive me for those times that I took the glory away from You. I pray that my life will bleed out my praise and devotion to You by constantly and habitually giving YOU all the glory in EVERYTHING!!! Please remove any pride or anything that will cause me to give the praise to myself or to people. I only want YOU to be glorified. Help me to live a life that is always in awe of You. In Jesus' name.

ACKNOWLEDGING GOD'S SOVEREIGNTY (4 of 4)

Examples of people who acknowledged God's sovereignty:

> Centurion - believed that Jesus' word was enough to heal his (centurion's) servant. (Matthew 8:5-13)

> David - "he recognized the imperial rank of the one true God as being above all creation." 1 (Chronicles 29:11-12)

TODAY consciously and actively seek an opportunity to credit God with one of His glories in an encounter with another person.

Today's Practical App:

I really must consistently give the glory back to God. Sometimes when I am overwhelmed with all the good things that has been happening, that God allows to happen, in my life, I tend to forget to truly and carefully give all the glory back to God. I will make it a point to praise God for what He's done through me. I must constantly rely on God's power when I am seeking for His way to unfold. I must humbly admit everyday that there's nothing I can do apart from Him. All things are only through and for His glory, that is my goal!
