SOBER AND VIGILANT.

1 Peter 5:8
Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. (Amplified)

The enemy does use things for us to get hooked. He's always at work on how to re-strategize his schemes. However, we know that the enemy uses the same 3 things for us to fall: lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Peter reminds us to be sober - self-controlled, subdued in demeanor, not impulsive; vigilant - keenly watchful to detect danger, cautious at all times. If we're not, we can be easy prey. Always keep watch and be self-controlled.

Yes, I need to hear this. I need to be vigilant and sober. I could be watchful yet, my watchful-ness does not go with my sober-ness sometimes because I'd act impulsively or not controlled. I need to always examine myself how I am acting towards the situations in my life. I will NOT ALLOW the enemy to seize or devour me even with the little things that I may fall into. In Jesus' name.

Lord, please protect me from the evil schemes. I pray that you will give me Your Spirit that I may always be guarded. Help me to put on the FULL ARMOR of God that I may stand against the evil strategies. Help me to be keen, vigilant, and sober. I pray this in Jesus' mighty name, AMEN.
