HUMILITY.

John 3:29-30
The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less.

Isn’t it awesome to hear the humility of John the Baptist? It’s amazing to know that a leader is humble enough to lower down himself and making other people known – not sucking in all the credit but to give credit to whom it’s due. In this passage, John the Baptist was in complete humility; bowing down the Jesus, the ultimate Savior. No matter how much John the Baptist has done for God in the ministry, even if his ministry started way before Jesus “came”, he knew that Jesus was greater than him. What principles can we learn from this? We are messengers of God… be humble even if someone better shows up in our way. Don’t see them as someone who’s standing along the way. Work with them with complete humility – considering others better than yourselves. The cool part was, knowing that John the Baptist knew that it was the Messiah and he said “That joy is mine, and it is now complete”, he knew that he ought to work alongside with Jesus. John the Baptist really worked for Jesus, and not for himself because he didn’t have any gripes “taking his disciples” away from him (John) because he knew that they are working for the same purpose – to glorify God.

When someone comes up in the ministry, I must discern if his or her purpose is the same as that of ours. I shouldn’t feel threaten when someone wants to step up and works with me having the same mind and purpose - to make Jesus known. I will submit in complete humility to God – continuing my mission and working alongside with whoever God sends. In everything, the goal is to give glory to God in every way possible.

Lord, please prepare me for whatever is coming along the way. Help me to have a heart of humility and complete surrender to You. Bless the ministries that I am handling and/or involved in. Help me to always see u you as my goal – to make you known in everything that I do. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
