THE HS IN YOU.
John 7:39 (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)
At this time, we see that the Spirit of God, our Counselor, hasn't been given yet because Jesus was still on earth. Now that Jesus has died and rose on the 3rd day, ascended to heaven, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would be given to us. With that, right now, we are rest assured that we have the Counselor, Holy Spirit in us. The passage reminds us that those who believe in Jesus have been given the Spirit. This Spirit is one that will guide us in all truth; to guide us to His will and to empower us in our daily walk. When we believe in Jesus, we have the Spirit.
I have the Spirit of God in me, the Holy Spirit - my guide, my counselor, my source of power. Jesus said that when I have the Spirit, I will not thirst anymore. I will be filled with Him that I wouldn't need anything else to fill it. I sure am filled in Christ through the Holy Spirit. If I have been filling "lacking" in anything when I already have the Spirit of God in me, I must not have fully given the Spirit full authority to take over and fill that void. Therefore, I must examine myself constantly; testing whether or not I am walking in the flesh or in the Spirit. Since I have the Spirit of God in me, I must remember that I do not live for myself anymore. I have been filled by the Spirit of God. I am empowered, filled, and I do not lack anything. Whatever comes "extra" will be a gift that I will take from God.
Lord, thank you for the assurance that You are guiding me in every step. Thank you that you have already filled my life with you that I do not need anything to fill it with anything on earth. Thank you for the little gifts that come along. I will gladly take it when it comes whenever you want to give it. Help me to live an empowered life, one that will show to everyone an example of what it means and what it looks to like to have the Spirit of God at work in the life of a true follower of Christ. Thank you Jesus, in Your name, amen.
