Proverbs 4:7
Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

Luke 15:17-19
17 “When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! 18 I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, 19 and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’

To acquire wisdom and understanding, it will COST YOU EVERYTHING; all that you have. When the prodigal son lost everything, he came to his senses. Until we are able to let go of the things of this world, the pleasures it brings, and the short-term satisfaction it gives, we will never understand God. To have wisdom and to have understanding is to know God. To know God costs everything.

What things have I let go to gain wisdom and understanding? I need to just completely let go of my mind, my feelings and my spirit. Yes, I may have done that when I became a Christian. However, I need to make that a consistent activity - letting go of everything and allowing God to move. I may not know God fully right now; I may not fully know God's plans for me - what the future holds; but I know that when I have fully let go of the worldly things "clinging on" to my life - as little or as big, it is only then I will really understand God. *sigh*

Lord, forgive me for having these little "hang ups" in my life. Please give me a heart that will always be willing to submit to your will. No matter how small it is or to the biggest things in my life, help me to give everything to You. Please take them because I'd like to know You and understand you fully. Thank you because I know you will not hold it back from me once you know I am ready. May my daily actions, thoughts and words be seasoned with your wisdom. In Jesus' name, amen.
