At the doorway.
Proverbs 8:30; 33-35
Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence... Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.
Wisdom was God’s “partner” when He made the earth. Wisdom saw everything from the very beginning. Wisdom rejoiced in God’s presence! Through wisdom, everything was laid on earth! God is wisdom Himself! What is it that we are encouraged to do? To listen, to be wise, to not ignore it. Those who listen and watch out for wisdom and those who wait at her doorway are blessed! Waiting at the doorway means patience. Just like when a dog patiently waits for its master to come out of the house, so does a man who waits outside wisdom’s doorway, waiting for it to open up and see/know what comes out. The dog may already know what its master does on a daily/usual basis, so does we must know what wisdom does and can do to us on a “normal” basis. However, there are times when the dog’s master does awesome things; give extra treats, extravagant accessories, etc., we know that wisdom gives more than that to us. Why? Because we are special. We are a unique breed! What’s the call? Wait at wisdom’s doorway – daily; and those who finds wisdom, finds life and receives favor from the Lord (v. 35).
I am still amazed at this verses no matter how many times I read it. It always speaks to me differently each time. I want God’s favor in my life. I want to know God more. I want to be wise in everything I do; the decisions I make and the steps I take. Even as I end the 30-day journey, I will continue to seek God – every single day. I will wait at His doorway, daily. I am eager to know what else He has in mind. This is not the end of the “intense” search for God’s will, but rather, the beginning of a new step. I am excited to see what God will do and excited to look back of the things that He’s already done. The things He spoke to me about, the things that He’s still about to reveal to me. I will continue to be zealous for His will in my life not only so I can receive favor but also that I may not miss in carrying out what He has planned for me for His glory.
Lord, you are always awesome. I can never cease to see how great you are. I will continue seeking; I will wait at your doorstep. Help me not to get caught up with life’s busyness but to continue to rest in Your peace that surpasses all understanding! Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen!
