Galatians 4:15a
"What has happened to all your joy?"
Paul was writing this letter to the church of Galatia reminding them of how they used to be. Isn't it true that sometimes the "fire" goes out after a while? Many people are experiencing this same scenario and sometimes have a hard time getting back on track. One principle we can draw out in this passage is that, when we remember how we used to be (being on "fire"), we can get a picture of where we need to head back in the direction of our spiritual lives. What did we used to do when were on "fire"? How can we get back to that? We need to be willing to accept the truth about ourselves and be willing to step back and look at ourselves at a third person level. May we continue to get in-shape in our spiritual lives that no one will ever ask us, "What has happened to all your joy?"
I know sometimes I get so overwhelmed with things that I haven't been faithful to the stuff I used to be faithful doing. There was a time when I knew I was on top of everything but that was because I really worked myself to stay on that level - of course with God's strength! I need to be back on that. I need probably write stuff down that I used to do and re-assess and evaluate why I am not doing the same thing as before. I will do that because I don't want people asking me that question.
Lord, please give me strength to get back with my "faithful" routine. May you take away anything that has to do with procrastination. I want to be on top of things again but I need your help because it seems that everything is just going the opposite of how I want it to be. Forgive me, Lord and please give me a renewed heart. Give me that excitement to be better and I rebuke anything that tries to hinder my growth. Thank you for YOUR WORD! You are faithful to me. Amen
