Mark 5:35-37

35 While he was still speaking to her, messengers arrived from the home of Jairus, the leader of the synagogue. They told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.” 36 But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” 37 Then Jesus stopped the crowd and wouldn’t let anyone go with him except Peter, James, and John (the brother of James).

Many times when we are faced with turmoils and hardships in life, there are a lot of people that get involved with it. Many help and some are just there for "decorations!" The truth is, these people could either comfort us or distract us from the situation. When Jairus was brought the news that her daughter was dead, Im pretty sure that he had some type of reaction to the message. It is not clearly stated in the scriptures but by Jesus having the people stay outside the house, somehow it gives me a hint that the people may cause or have caused Jairus to doubt of God's miracle. Jesus only let Peter, James, and John in the house and not the others. We know for a fact that these disciples know the power of God and that there is no doubt that Jesus could heal the girl. Let us keep in mind to only let the people who we know believe in the power that God is going to do when we are experiencing heavy things in our lives. Let's not get distracted by people who are just babbling... the truth of what they SEE, but rather let us surround ourselves with people who we know believe in the power of God to do wonders. Don't let people distract you from having faith in Christ.

I will not let people distract me away from what God can do in my life. Yes, there may be times that I am experiencing turmoils, trials and hardships. I know there are people who get involved, for the good and for the bad. I must be aware of them, filtering those who are actually sincere in their "care" and those who also have the same faith that I have in Christ. I will not let people's opinions distract me from moving forward to God's ultimate miracle in my life.

God, please help me to know which people are the ones you want me to let in my "house", people that i can trust and people who believe in the great wonders that you do! Amen.
