"YES.. GOD SAID!"
Wk 20 Day 6
Jeremiah 37:16-17
16 Jeremiah was put into a vaulted cell in a dungeon, where he remained a long time. 17 Then King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked him privately, "Is there any word from the LORD ?"
"Yes," Jeremiah replied, "you will be handed over to the king of Babylon."
Jeremiah, when asked if there's any word from the Lord, he was confident to say yes. Why?
- He was a prophet
- Put in prison without any justified reason
- He usually spends vast amount of quiet time with God so he doesnt speak of wrong things in his prophecies
What do we get out of this?
- It is possible to get a clear answer from the Lord
- As Jeremiah was constant connected with God, we can hear from God clearly when we are constantly connected with Him and knowing how the voice of God sounds like.
- We must be sensitive.
How sensitive could Jeremiah have been by having a confident answer for the king? It sounds so easy that he did have an answer but that's because it took him some time to really develop that. Yes, he is gifted as a prophet yet we know that us NT believers have been given the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, to guide us through in hearing the Lord. We just need to be sensitive and clear out any distractions that may interfere in hearing clearly from God.
What distractions do I have right now?
- unnecessary conversations
- too much to do, losing time of quality prayer/reading of the Word
What must I do?
- cut out unnecessary conversations
- only allow important ones that won't hinder time of learning (reading and spending time with God)
- organize my time wisely and not being "idle" in my mind that makes me wander around and thinking about the "distracting" things.
I want to hear clearly from God and be able to say "YES... this is what God told me!" I will rid myself of the distractions that I (myself) and the enemy put up. I can do this through Christ! I will hear from God.
// Lord, I commit this to You because I won't be able to do it without you. Keep my mind focused on You and how I can be better in hearing your voice. In Jesus' name, amen.
