Wk 20 Day 4
Psalm 57:7
My heart is steadfast, O God.
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.
- David was plotted to be killed by Saul.
- He fled to the caves to hide from him [Saul].
- He cries out to God while inside the cave.
- In the midst of his misery, he kept crying out to God.
- Yet, he said that his heart is steadfast - firmly in place; in position; unwavering
- Why? Because he trusts in God.
- Therefore, he resolved to singing songs to God
- To make music to the Lord and exalt His name.
He didn't think about his situation and mourned over it as if nothing was to happen. He trust that God's got him covered - protection from Saul and still directing his steps to fulfill God's purpose for him (v. 2).
Whenever there are times when we are stuck in a rut - "as if" we are stuck - we must remember that we can look to God any time even in times of "hiding" away from the evil one. God's protection is with us and His promises to us are Yes and Amen! They never change.. When we are disturbed with something, just "sing songs to God". Do not waver because when we know that we are in Christ, we can trust in Him (even when we're not "in Christ", people can still trust in Him!).
There are things in me that bother me right now... some people, my own doings, decisions that I make that may be not the best. How does this verse relate to me? Just keep my heart steadfast - unwavering to God. Keep it with God so I may stay in His protective arms away from what the enemy is trying to confuse me with. With that, I will do my part to "activate" God's promises by doing the right things. After all, everything must be for HIS glory and not what I did or still about to do. (Psalm 57:11)
Oh Lord, may you be exalted in my life. Help me to rid myself of my own desires that may corrupt the desires that you have for me. I pray that you will give me peace in my heart. I will not waver but rather look to Your unfailing love for me. I pray that you will secure me and keep me safe away from what the enemy is trying to steal away from me - THE GREAT FULFILLMENT of Your promises in my life. Help me to remain steadfast - not to fret, not to move, but to stay in You. In Jesus' name, amen.
