INTRUDERS
Wk 17 Day 3

2 Samuel 1:14
David asked him, "Why were you not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the Lord's anointed?"

There were many instances when David could've taken Saul's life; but he didn't. He chose not to harm him because David believed that Saul (regardless his evilness) was the Lord's anointed. There are times when we try so hard to protect something - like that of Saul for David, a relationship, a career, friendship, etc... yet there are careless and "innocent" people that will try to ruin what we have protected.

David asked to struck down the Amalekite who killed Saul. The Amalekite was "innocent" and even brought the news to David. There are a few things that come to mind:
1. The Amalekite was really innocent since he was honest enough to tell David what happened
2. He thought that David would be glad to hear that Saul died
3. He was really spying on David and pretended that he (Amalekite) meant good

Regardless of these, David just punished him immediately.

When "outsiders" come and penetrate what we are protecting, we ought to be prepared for them. We can't help those people who will try to ruin what we are protecting whether they are innocent or not. However, on our side, we can always choose to resolve to what is godly in response to what they have ruined.. David could've just punished him and not struck him down, but he did anyways.

... I could "struck them down", but I must choose to just forgive and allow the Lord to take action for what they have done. After all, it is not my call to "take someone's life" but God's. I will love those who may have ruined what I have protected and allow the Spirit of God to overpower my thoughts and my heart even if they've hurt me or caused me grief. Forgive, forgive, forgive and move on!

Lord, thank you for reminding me of this. Yes, it is hard to sometimes forgive those who have ruined things in our lives, but you are still in control of things. I will just entrust everything to you and allow you to take action of what has been ruined. Thank you because you remain faithful to me. In Jesus' name, amen.
