NO HESITATION.
(The Call)
Matthew 4: 18b, 20; 22
18... for they fished for a living.
20And they left their nets at once and followed him.
22 They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind.
There was no delay when Simon, Andrew, James, and John followed the call of Jesus as His first disciples. Jesus knew exactly WHEN to call them. And since the timing was right, they had no hesitation - they all followed at once and immediately when Jesus called. Has God called you yet? He knows the right timing.
- Jesus knew WHO to call
- Jesus saw the potential of servant-leadership of WHO He is calling
- Jesus knew WHEN to call them
- The first disciples trusted Jesus' word without any hesitation
- The disciples didn't care what they were leaving behind
- Because they knew this was a greater cause more than what they were doing (being fishermen)
I was really anxious while reading this passage. It's the second time it hit me hard regarding my call in the ministry using the same exact passage. I could feel the resemblance between the disciples who used to FISH FOR A LIVING and now FISHING MEN FOR A LIVING. It's kind of like, Belle TEACHES FOR A LIVING and now TEACHING MEN (people) FOR A LIVING. I will just entrust everything to God. What's holding me back? There shouldn't be any. I know God will provide no matter what. He's putting everything together for me. My ultimate confirmation is God's timing. I know and I have peace that He's CALLING ME TO THE MINISTRY to TEACH. I'm just going to wait what's coming in June when my boss tells me about my current situation (she emailed me yesterday). Sigh.
God, You are good and I will follow You. No matter what comes my way, please make it easy for me to not count what I am leaving behind (my good-paying job, my credential that's going to clear on my 2nd year, the comfortability of being able to provide, give, spend financially, etc...). I don't want to be bogged down with that and even if everything may seem illogical in my point of view, I pray that You will make it clear to me what You really are up to for me. I trust in You Lord. I know You will make everything in proper order. Thank You Jesus, in Your name, amen.
