HE'S FAITHFUL, ARE YOU?
Wk 2 Day 4
Psalm 4:8; 5:12
8 I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety.
12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
This was David's prayer when he was fleeing from his son Absalom who has planned to kill him; became a traitor against David and just fully disobeyed God by not honoring his father David. I experienced the feeling of what it was like to flee from evil (literally) when we were hiding from a person who may have threatened our family in various ways. Yet we know that and we have seen God's work to those who remain righteous. Truly, God's favor and shield were upon us. What did we do? We just kept seeking God, remaining faithful to God, honoring Him and reminding God of His promises.
What does this reveal about God? That He will never violate what He has promised. That He will fulfill what He promised, that neither will He leave us nor forsake us.
What does this reveal about me? I am nothing before God. Yet, I ought to be faithful to God no matter what. On a practical side, I ought to remain faithful where God has called me - my current job. Today, I've experienced a minor "disagreement" with a teacher. It was my fault at one side and the students' fault at another. However, I should've been more careful. I may be new, but I have no excuse. I still should've done my part faithfully. SIGH. However, I know I will get through this. Today may be full of "stress" but I know God will give me relief of my distress (4:1b) and I will be able to sleep at night with ease (4:8) because of God's mercy and favor.
Lord, please put me back or even better to how I used to be with regards to presence of mind, organization, and careful planning of things. Forgive me for not being faithful at times especially in my job, and is now affecting my ministry (youth). Please help me to always strive for the best. Please guide me in what to do up to the smallest things that I need to do. Please lead me to the best things that I can do for Your Kingdom, in my job, my ministries, and especially to my family (and friends). Lord, You remain faithful, help me to be one like You. In Jesus' name, amen.
