TIMING.
Mark 1:40-42
40A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, "If you are willing, you can make me clean." 41Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" 42Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.
I highlighted some important things that I think are crucial to this passage:
1. begged him on his knees - the man with leprosy had complete humility regarding his situation; trusting that only God can make him whole.
2. "If you are willing" - asked Jesus if He was willing to heal
3. "you can make me clean" - the leper had faith that Jesus can make him clean
4. Filled with compassion - because of the man's humility, trust, and faith, Jesus had compassion on him.
5. "I am willing" - Jesus gave His response, that He is willing to heal.
6. Immediately - no lag; when Jesus says it, it happens - immediately!
God can do wonders in our lives when we humble ourselves before God, acknowledge that no other thing or person could help us but Him, and trusting in His sovereign power to move. We know that God's will is to heal.. to make us whole... to patch up anything that's been hurt... to make us clean.. to give us a great life. For us to receive these blessings, we need to do our part. Once we do, IMMEDIATELY, we see results. Sometimes, God's timing depends on us.
I need to just completely surrender everything to God. I know I have, but sometimes things creep up and I start to think about them again... how it has hurt me, how it has changed my perspective on things, etc. I know God is willing to give me a great life. I need to do my part - to completely trust Him, to humble myself before Him knowing that He's the only one who can help me, and to abandon my heart and let God do the work. If at times, God's timing depends on me, I am the one lagging it. I will choose to obey!
Lord, thank you for this passage that reminds me of who you really are. Thank you that you never change. Thank you that I can know your will through your Word of truth. Help me to always desire and be like your son Jesus who is humble in every way, submissive to the Father, and have abandoned Himself for the sake of Your will. I pray that I will be the same. Put aside anything that has caused me to do otherwise. I want to do Your will in my life. Empower me and strengthen me. Guide me in every way. Thank you! In Jesus' name, amen.
