You'll Just Know.
John 21:12b
None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord.
It's amazing to come to realize some events in our lives were directly guided by the Lord. When some of the disciples went out to catch fish, Jesus appeared to them. They didn't exactly know that it was Him. Jesus guided them where to throw the net. Despite their previous experience of not catching any, they followed what He said anyways. Because of this, their obedience to someone "they really didn't know" who He was at that time, caught a large number of fish. When John realized that it was the Lord, he told Peter. The awesome part is when they just knew it was the Lord. They didn't ask questions or looked for more proof. They knew in their heart of hearts that it was Jesus!
There were times when I experienced the same thing. I just knew that it was the Lord who guided me through many situations in my life. What an encouragement to know that we will really know what it's the Lord who's guiding us in our situations and leading us to our large "catch of fish". God always has His own timing of things and He will show Himself to us when He thinks it's the right time. Just like the disciples, we must learn to be conscious and alert when He would appear to us. They had an open heart to discern that it was Jesus who guided them through their situation. How awesome it is to know that God will make Himself known to us; guiding us through; and we'll just know it's HIM.
Wow, I am in awe. I know God will make Himself known to me. I will go on living my life for Jesus (my normal routine) with the ready heart to be guided by the Almighty. I will be sensitive to the move of the God in my life; discerning what works God is doing. I will follow Him all the days of my life.
Lord, thank you because you are willing to reveal Yourself to us whenever you think is the right time. Help me to always be sensitive and discerning to your presence; to your leading. And I believe in faith that you will make it known to me that it's You who is leading me to whatever things I have to do on a daily basis. Thank you God for you remain the same. I will live my life for your glory! In Jesus' name, Amen.
Other cool stuff:
- After Jesus rose from the dead, the disciples went back to their "normal" vocation - as fishermen.
- They didn't hold back when Jesus asked them to throw the net on the other side (despite their experience the night before).
- The disciples were altogether in fishing. (v. 3 "We'll go with you")
- For them to experience Jesus, they didn't have to do super-crazy things. They just did their "normal" daily routine as fishermen. Jesus just appeared.
v. 22
- "...what is that to you? You must follow me."
What did Jesus mean here? Possibility: It doesn't matter what happens to others, all that matters is that we take care of our "walk" with Him. Following Him.
v. 25
- Jesus did so much more that were not even written down anymore. I wonder what they were! They must've been just as awesome, or maybe more!
