Go Beyond.

Matthew 5:41, 46
If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him 2 miles. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even tax collectors doing that?

As believers, we are not only called to be good - we are called to be excellent. We know that there are lots of "good" people in the world who aren't Christians. What separates us from them? (1) Our relationship with Christ; (2) the way we treat our neighbors. We ought to not only be good but to go beyond good - loving our enemies, caring for those who don't care about us, and going beyond what is asked of us - beyond the call of duty. That is something not everyone does. As believers, we must not settle for accomplishing just enough - go beyond, an extra mile.

I have to go beyond the call of duty - in my life, not settling for something that's "enough"; in my family, going beyond normal; my ministries, going beyond what I am already doing or have done in the past; my work, going beyond what I'm being paid to do; and my neighbor, to love them as Christ does (even if I don't feel like it!).

Lord, I know it could be hard to go beyond the call of duty especially when the flesh creeps in and gets in the way. Please help me to not only do what's enough but to go further than what I've been asked or told to do, paid to do, or called to do. I need your help, Lord. I plead this to you through the name of Jesus Christ, amen. :)
