Simple Miracle
2 Kings 5:13-14
13 But his officers tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!’” 14 So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child’s, and he was healed!
Sometimes miracles come when we do unexpected things or when unexpected things happen to us; things that might be too impossible to comprehend. When Naaman, with his extreme leprose, was told to wash at the river to get cured, he had disbelief in himself. He thought that it was too impossible for that to happen. Yet, we know that nothing is impossible with God. We are always caught up with difficult things; that great things only happen when we do hard stuff or impossibilities. Yet, sometimes impossible things could come in simple steps! There's power in simplicity. God's power to work in us is simple, it's not that complicated, yet we sometimes don't see it right away. We like to see something extravagantly impossible for it to be called a miracle. What are the miracles in my life that happened so "simply"?
Miracles in my life can happen in simple steps. Sometimes I do expect things to happen dramatically, but I must remember that it could just be a simple step - a simple call (for example) to get someone back on track with God, or a simple email to cheer a person up, or a simple smile to make someone feel loved, or a simple hug to let someone know we care.... Whatever simple things we may do, or I may do, I must remember that it could also be a simple miracle for another (or for myself). Great things don't need to happen grandiosely, but rather on a simple step. I will stay simple (but meaningful!)
Lord, thank you for reminding me. Sometimes I expect dramatic things or "great" happenings before I can consider something a miracle. Yet, you have reminded me that miraculous things could come from simple things that we do and that You do on a daily basis. Help me to keep it that way in my life because I do want to experience Your miracles daily. I thank you for making me a miracle myself, by simply taking me out of my old life. Thank you Lord! In Jesus name, Amen.
