John 17:20-21
Jesus' prayer was not only for the 12 disciples but for all of us who believe in Him. He prayed that through our unity, the world will know that Jesus is the true Messiah. What's sad is that even in Christianity, we are divided in our views. Yes, we are unique individuals and have our own "taste" for things. Yet, when it comes to our faith in Jesus, may we not get ourselves divided. How does that happen? If we all SEEK the Word wholeheartedly, we know that we will all get the same message. People who are walking in the Spirit have perfect unity in what they believe in the Word. Most of the time, we are caught up by what we hear on the radio, see on TV, read on articles, etc that we just settle for what others say. But, we want to lift Jesus Christ and let people know that He is the true Savior of the world by being united. As an individual, we ought to seek out God's Word and ask God to speak to us clearly by getting ourselves focused and discerning what God is teaching us about. Unity in the body = getting Jesus known as the true living Messiah!
If there are disagreements that will arise in my conversations with regards to Christianity with another believer, I must seek out the truth from the Word. I must not "disagree" immediately without consulting the TRUTH on my own through the Word. On a surface level, I must not start or fuel arguments and disagreements from other believers. I will make Jesus known through the love that God has given to us as our GLUE to this unity.
Lord, forgive me if I've caused some disunity in your body by being argumentative or selfish in my belief. Help me to always make you known by loving others and giving way. I pray that you guide me seeking your truth always that I will not interpret things out of my own thinking. I want others to know you because of the way I relate with people and work with them in your earthly Kingdom! Thank you for the opportunity to share Your son Jesus through our unity as believers. Help me to be a catalyst to this unity! Use me, In Jesus' name and by the power of the Holy Spirit, AMEN! :)
