Acts 15:36
Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing."
Paul was a great example of someone who really cared for people. When he had preached the Gospel to many different places, he left them to do some other work in other places. Yet, he didn't forget about those who he had already preached the Word to. He thought about them. He thought of visiting them to see how they are doing. This is a principle we need to live by as disciplers. We can't just let our disciples go on their way without us caring about how they are doing. We need to communicate with them, visit them, talk to them to see how they are doing. By doing this, it will encourage them even more and help answer questions that may be have been confusing some. Our guidance as disciplers is necessary to many people we have shared the Word to! Don't just expect them to grow without us watering the see that we have planted. We need to constantly water them, remind them, fertilize what they have learned so they can ready to be on their own as soon as they are ready to help others too. Don't leave them behind.
I am guilty of this that I haven't been really faithful in watering the plants of those I've shared the Gospel to (in whatever way that may be). I need to be an encourager... not leaving them behind. I will call at least a couple of young people each week to see how they are doing and if there's anything that they may need some clarifications on. This is a step on how I can achieve that "BIG" thing God has prepared for me.
Lord, forgive me for not being faithful in this area of my ministry. Please enable me and give me the desire, and the time to help these kids nurtured in their growth for you. Not just during the weekends, but during the times when they are all by themselves. Please use me and use other people as well to help in watering the seeds that have been put in the hearts of your people. Amen!
