Matthew 2:9, 12 (NLT)
9 After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was.

12 When it was time to leave, they returned to their own country by another route, for God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod.

These verses tells us who the Magi were. They were indeed "wise men" who faithfully followed the star and obeyed the Lord by not returning to Herod. They were careful in finding the newborn King. They sought for information (v.2) of where the King was born. They knew that the star was the symbol that will show up when a new king is born. With this, they were eager to come and worship the King. They looked for the answer for their question. They were sure of their belief that when the star shows up, the new King is born. How many of us actually sought for answers to our questions? Do we really know what we believe in? Are we able to discern whether or not something comes from God or just from us? Probably, the Magi spent so much time studying the prophecies... they asked questions, they read it, understood it to the point that they believed it. God wants us to be the same - to be faithful to what he calls us to do, to where he wants us to go and to obey His word that we may know which way to take.

It's not just enough to know the prophecies (the scriptures) but to act out what we know about it. To understand what it's telling us that we may walk in faithfulness and obedience to God. Know, understand and obey!

I WILL GOD. I will know your Word, understand it and obey you that I will be guided in my way every single day. Please give me wisdom that I may not be swayed away by anything that may "seem right". Help me to have the discerning heart... not to act emotionally but rather spiritually, according to your will. Make me the person you want me to be. I will obey you and honor you all the days of my life. In Jesus' name, Amen
