Look ahead.

Psalm 126:6
They weep as they go to plant their seed,
but they sing as they return with the harvest.

When we think so shallow and nearsighted about many things, we end up satisfying what we want at the moment. We don't think about what's coming ahead at the harvest. This verse reminds me that we may be "weeping" as we plant our seed; as we plan the good things for us to harvest later with laughter, yet we know that we will be rejoicing during harvest season. Whatever seed we may need to plant right now, think about it as a step to laughter in the future. No hard work seems pleasant at the time. We will definitely undergo discipline and times when it seems "very hard" to move on. Yet, if we are able to persevere and just look ahead at the good things that will come, the sowing wouldn't seem as hard as it looks. Look ahead.

*sigh* This is definitely for me. At work, ministry, friends, family, my life, etc. Sometimes I forget to just look ahead and see the results from afar. I tend to get so nearsighted and just "satisfy" my wants at the moment. I've proven this and I know it has great benefits. There's no time for me to get lazy. I need to keep moving. I need to move ahead. I must be motivated at some sort to do great things for God. I may be "in pain" right now in the process of sowing, but I must not think about that. It will not last. I will be able to enjoy the harvest at its appropriate time. I must move. I must look ahead.

Lord, please guide me. Lead my actions, my thoughts and my words to always be looking beyond what I feel and what I see at the moment. Help me to be motivated to do everything I need to enjoy my harvest later. Energize me, my thoughts and my spirit that I may not be lazy in working things out. Help me to work hard and work smart at everything You have entrusted me with. Thank you because I know you will empower me. I lift this up to You, in Jesus' name. Amen.
